OPHIOPOGON Planiscapus

Commonly known as Mondo Grass this form of OPHIOPOGON is evergreen and provides a delightful display of slender fresh green foliage all year around.  In summer small white flowers appear on short stems above the foliage before forming blue berries in autumn.

Attractive and versatile, it is a fabulous plant to use for ground cover under trees where it will gently spread to form a lush carpet or even at the front of a border to smooth out overly sharp lines in a garden.  Tolerant of most light conditions from sun to part shade, it thrives in a moist but free-draining soil, but once established it can cope with areas of drier shade.  For an interesting and long lasting display combine it with BRUNNERA, ASTRANTIA major ‘Florence’, DIGITALIS parvflora Jacq. and GERANIUM ‘Rozanne’.
